Grandma Pam
My friend, Betty, sent me this photo of her nephew carrying my book around. I was so pleased to know that he was enjoying it.
Hello! My name is Pamela--Grandma Pam to the little ones in my life.
I'm 75 years old, a lifelong woman of faith, and a grandmother who believes that God is the answer to everything--a notion that some in the world would say is ridiculous, or at best naive, but my belief is found of real life experience. I have put God to the test through trusting Him in every difficult, trying experience and there have been plenty, and have found Him faithful and true.
You might be wondering, why at my age, I wrote this book! Well, it's because I believe with my whole heart that the greatest gift you can give a child is teaching them to know how much God loves them, that He wants their love and trust in return, that He is always listening and knows their heart, that He is a good, good heavenly Father. Children and their parents need to know this! I also believe with my whole heart that every baby and child is truly precious in God's sight, and so, the name, PRECIOUS IN HIS SIGHT; Big Truths For Little Children.
The first poem in the book is Rock A Bye Baby, originally a poem and tune familiar to almost all adults today, and while the melody is still sweet, I personally thought the lyrics, with the baby, cradle and all taking a tumble from the sky, needed some help! The poem is so old that there is no copyright on the original, so I wrote my own version--soft and sweet--as it should be. I wanted too, to express my deep belief that Jesus Loves All The Children Of The World-of course, since He made them! And since He made them, then the baby, even before birth is special in God's sight and He has already planned their best life for them. I hope you enjoy When I Was In My Mama's Womb. It's one of my favorites. I felt like God was helping me write the lyrics to that one. Sometimes our little ones are afraid, especially at night when their little imaginations can run away with them. That thought is what inspired the When I Am Afraid poem. The Four Seasons is just a fun little poem to end the book with a light, playful way, highlighting some particulars of each season in the Midwest, USA. Last, but not least important, is a Prayer Journal. This little journal provides a time for the adult to ask the child what they would like to pray about, what their concerns are, what they want or need from God. It's a wonderful opportunity to teach the child about prayer--which is really just talking to God, and to find out what is on their heart. They may have worries, large or small, that you didn't know about. Then there's a space to fill in the answer of how God has answered the child's prayer. You may be amazed--at your child's requests, and also of how God answers! This may be the best part of the whole book! As you can see, the book is not long but it has a lot of big truths, messages to be learned--a perfect opportunity to grow closer to your child, and to God!
Here's hoping and praying that this book is meaningful to you,
Grandma Pam
